A flash flood watch is in effect for the region through Sunday evening, the National Weather Service said Saturday. Occasional rain — sometimes heavy — and thunderstorms are expected today. The high temperature is expected to be in the upper 70s and the low in the mid 60s.

The National Weather Service early today issued a flash flood warning for central Kent County in Delaware and the northeastern parts of Caroline and Queen Anne’s counties in Maryland. At 1:06 a.m., the service’s doppler radar indicated that 3 to 5 inches of rain had fallen over these areas.
